Viktor Yushchenko Visits St. George’s Cathedral in Lviv

According to the press secretariat of the Lviv Archeparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC), during a working visit to the Lviv region on October 31, 2009, Ukraine's President Viktor Yushchenko visited St. George's Cathedral in Lviv. He was met by Archbishop Ihor (Vozniak) of Lviv of the UGCC.

The guests prayed for God's blessing for the Ukrainian nation and bowed to the remains of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytskyj in the cathedral's crypt. The president highly evaluated Metropolitan Andrey's contribution to the history of Ukraine, the results of which can be seen in the conscience of western Ukrainians.

November 1st is the 65th anniversary of the death of Metropolitan Andrey.

After the visit, the president went to a meeting on the swine flu situation.;32681/
