Head of the UGCC took part in inauguration of newly elected President of Ukraine

On February 25 the ceremony of inauguration of the President of Ukraine took place in the Supreme Council of Ukraine. The meeting was opened by the speaker of the parliament Volodymyr Lytvyn.

In the hall of Parliament were present deputies from different fractions, the head of the Constitutional Court, the head of the Central Election Committee, and leaders and authorized representatives of many countries and international organizations. In addition, in the inauguration of the President of Ukraine took part representatives of the Churches and religious organizations of Ukraine. The UGCC was represented by His Beatitude Lubomyr, the head of the UGCC, and Bishop Bohdan (Dzyurakh), the aecretary of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC.

On the eve of the inauguration, His Beatitude Lubomyr sent Mr. Viktor Yanukovych a congratulatory letter (see the addition) in which assured prayer support, for in fact the important tasks which stand before the President of Ukraine "can be fulfilled only with God's help." "At the same time, we wish to do our best to participate by our diligent and just work in the development of our state for the common good of all our fellow-countrymen," wrote the head of the UGCC.
