Europe’s Altar Servers Descend on St Peter's

(03 Aug 10 - RV) Over 50 thousand young people gathered in St Peter's Square Tuesday for an afternoon of music, interventions and reflection ahead of the celebration of Evening Prayer.

They are Europe's altar servers and are here in Rome on their 10th pilgrimage and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the International Movement of Altar Servers.

Young people from over 12 European nations are taking part in the event based on the theme 'Drinking Waters from the True Well'.

Fr Ludwig Waldmuller is head of Youth Ministry for the Diocese of Augsburg, Germany. He spoke to us about their hopes and their expectations.
